The start of every New Year is full of resolutions, intentions, and new goals and I decided to make a few health goals of my own this year. So here we go! One of my goals is to lose a few kilos, feel alert and more energised and to get the year off to a healthy start to gain long-lasting weight loss results.
As a Fitness & Weight Management Coach, my 21 years in the fitness and wellness industry has given me lots of experience in the field of weight loss and wellbeing. I´ve been exposed to every diet and eating regime known to man, and I am always open to trying new programs so that I can spread the word to millions of people looking for ways to successfully get fit and healthy.
We all know that short-term dieting brings short term results and that choosing a program that is sustainable while adjusting behavioural patterns is one that´s in for the long haul.
Having read up about the Noom program I was amazed to see that Noom was recognised by Google as the 3rd most searched diet in 2018, I was also happy to see that their program focuses on changing behavioural habits and not on what one eats. I am excited about using it because my belief and practice have always been to help people lead healthier lives through behavioural changes. Helping people to make better choices in nutrition, fitness and lifestyle brings long-lasting results. Anyone who knows me knows that I will always try a program myself before recommending it.
So I decided to become a Noomily, join the FB community and take advantage of their Trial. Yippeee! The program takes up 5-10 mins of my day, which is easy to manage with work and my 9-year-old boy! Keep reading to see how Noom will help me to reach my long-term goals and how it could help you too.
Noom is a health & wellness program designed by behavioural psychologists to help you live a healthier lifestyle by helping to create healthier habits so that you can lose weight and keep it off. It´s not a diet but a safe and healthy way to lose weight, providing a built-in nutritionist/coach in the palm of your hand. It helps you to identify and change the habits that have been holding you back throughout your weight loss endeavours and assists you to get results through habit and behaviour change, rather than by restrictive dieting. There are no supplements, treatments, or shakes and nothing to deprive you.
They have over 43 million users worldwide, and the program is scientifically recognised, as a sustainable weight loss program.
I think this is an excellent foundation for anyone who would like to change their relationship with food and learn new habits. It´s great for newcomers to weight loss and for many who have struggled to keep their weight off over many years of unsuccessful dieting. I have come across many people who need that bit of extra support, and this is what Noom provides. The program makes you accountable.
Have you ever found yourself searching for the best diet or weight loss program only to start motivated and be disappointed when you don´t get the results the program promised? If so, you are not alone; we´ve all been there. As we know, there are thousands of diets on the market, but unfortunately, when it comes to losing weight, one size does not fit all. Weight loss itself is instead a small fish in a huge pond!
One of the most frequent questions I get asked is “, What else can I do apart from cutting calories to lose weight? Let me tell you a secret. Losing weight is not just about counting or cutting calories alone; however, having a calorie deficit is essential for optimum weight loss results. There are so many other factors involved such as exercise, self-care, sleep & managing stress etc. However, one of the most significant parts of losing weight is changing everyday behavioural habits, setting achievable goals and resetting the mindset.
Logging your daily food intake will soon make you realise just exactly what you are regularly eating. You´ll be shocked! It makes you more aware. Tracking food is something that will help me because I am not a logger – just a blogger :-). I´m sure this function will help me to realise just exactly what I am eating.
The program lasts for 16 weeks and covers the following topics:
You Bet! Noom can be combined with any other diet program or eating regime, so whether you are doing Paleo, the Ketogenic Diet or the Mediterranean Diet, Noom can be integrated to assist you in reaching your goals.
Shocking but true. Less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their New Years Resolution after 30 days. Click HERE and GET STARTED ON NOOM TODAY. Your Trial Awaits You.
You will need to set up an account and take part in the quiz so that Noom can retrieve the details and propose a personalised plan for you. Make sure to check out the terms of the Trial before you commit.

I see this program as a good starting point and guide to get people on track to reaching their goals. But BEWARE: This program will not do the work for you. That´s going to be your part. It´s a tool to assist you and help you to keep on track of your long-term weight loss goals. You are in control of the foods you consume.
If you have any medical ailments that cause you not to lose weight, it would be wise to discuss the use of Noom with your doctor first (you should also speak to your doctor before even if you do not have any ailments).
Looking forward to updating you in the next Blog Post.

This is really a great blog post Jo. Thanks for that I really appreciate your honest feedback and for being transparent! I have a question for you. I have been on a diet my whole life only to put the weight back on again so I am always searching for programs that could help me stay the course. I have 3 young kids and you can imagine how hectic my schedule ist. Will this program take up a lot of time?
Hi Gabriela, thanks so much for your comment. I know how frustrating and tiresome it can be to find the right diet and have long-term success. You will spend around 5-10mins on the app per day. I´m a Mum and find that I can do this in the evenings or during a break at lunch or the afternoon. I know Mum´s don´t get many breaks :-). I am absolutely certain that Noom can help you because it´s helped many people achieve their long-term results, keeping the weight off. Message me if you need additional help. All the best. Jo
Thanks Jo! I´ve been using Noom for 3 months and it´s brilliant. Lost 8 kilos. 2 to go!
